I spent years investing in myself, rather selfishly, I might add – but it appears that it is paying dividends in my options now that I have re-entered the pool.

I think maybe the best strategy for someone in my position would be aiming for senior girls about to graduate. Right before their market value increases exponentially! It’s about that time of the year again too.

God this is despressing.

Meh, it is and it isn’t. Most of it is just getting through some difficult phases and learning to deal with the social scene. David is clearly looking for love in all the wrong places. He’s attracted to the “bright and shiny,” but eventually, once he figures out who he is, he’ll figure out that there’s better pickings elsewhere than the Toad. I suspect he’d be much better off at the campus Newman Center or Hillel or joining a group that centers around a hobby or interest. He’ll do fine eventually. There ARE girls who value what he has to offer and they are indeed the better girls. He should be busy relieving their pain and social insecurities. ;-)

If I were the mom of one of the SWUGs, I’d be worried.

Nice chart, Susan. I notice that male and female SMV intersect around the time these kids get married.

My guess is that David has never even noticed the singer. He’s at Toad’s checking out the new, most social, drinking freshmen girls.

Duh! That’s what happens when boys won’t listen to their mothers. ;-)

Mommy Dearest never taught me about what girls to like and which ones not to. I never brought any home, so she figured I was just very picky or not into girls yet ;)

Either way, yep, good boy David is looking for love in the wrong places, and is looking for shiny and bright over something more sustainable. Guys obviously get this too for sexual attraction, though “shiny” does not always mean “dancing on a bar table.” Out with the social group a few nights ago, and a pair of girls came in.
