Like I said, companies like RSD that actively encourage “guru worship” are immoral in my opinion.

That said, not everyone in the market does it. I don’t think David D actively encourages guys to invest their self esteem in him like Tyler or Style do. Say what you want about him, but Eben’s only interested in sharing information in exchange for money. He has no interest in fanboys.

The quality control point is spot on as well, and something I’ve believed for a long time. Honestly though, I think bootcamps are going the way of the dinosaur, so it’ll be a moot point eventually.

I swear I’m not nit-picking in this post :)

I get the RSD newsletter(s). Heh, I’m not even even sure what I get; basically, one stream that is Tyler’s latest writing and videos, and another which is Jeffy’s writing (though the posts are recycled and were in fact written years ago). Maybe something is wrong with me, but I don’t see the encouragement of guru worship. Tyler seems manic and prone to thinking that his latest insight is the most profound idea ever (ridiculous!) but I really enjoy watching him be so psyched; I take what I like and forget the rest immediately, and it’s easy to remember the good stuff because he’s so emphatic. I’ve also learned a huge amount from Jeffy’s writing. What am I missing? I’m a few years older than those guys and take everything with a grain of salt–is that it?

hey mark,

i used to do a little coaching about a year ago and was thinking about putting that on my experience part on my resume. what do you think i should use as a job title?

if you were going to go back to the work force with a standard schedule, what would you write down as your past experience for a job?

Hmm… I’d be really careful. This job is taboo and a lot of corporate environments may be uneasy with hiring a former “pick up coach.”
