Chic Noir said: @tim- yea it sounds like her son was jealous. No boy wants to think about some man “smashing his mom out”.

What Tim is describing is a situation that would be difficult for ANY single parent, divorcee, widower, etc. Him trying to form a bond at age 13 is going to be nearly impossible because of his age and relatiove closeness in age (probably) to the men his mother dates (since she’s young as well).

However, the 13 year old is was actively being belligerent and defiant toward an adult (Tim) and his mother by behaving so rudely. A child that age knows the difference between disrespect and just “disliking” someone.

The boys mother should have *metaphorically* whipped his ass for acting like a dickhead to an adult and especially one who is kind to his his mother (and presumably to him).

That teen was clearly spoiled by his mother and lacked a measure of discipline and respect for her and other adults. She probably had a “guilt complex” and always had an excuse for her son’s rudeness to you, didn’t she?

My son says “yes ma’am” and “no, sir” and is polite and friendly to people. That’s something his mother should have taught him when he was much younger.

*LR mentally tsk-tsks the mother for allowing a son to walk all over her*

I don’t blame you in that case because there are few men OR women who can jump in “new” as a parent to a teen and have success. I have enough trouble with my teen niece and nephew and they’re related to me!
